Loaned to 44th BG for the 1 Aug 43 Ploesti mission when it was flown by 1/Lt Reginald L. Carpenter and his 67th BS crew (with a 389th BG Navigator). It was intercepted by enemy fighters over the Ionian Sea, north-west of the Island of Cefalonia, and was forced to ditch.
