"Tail Shot" - Starboard (Right) Side
Contributor - James A. Leddy
Caption Reads - "After 'dishing it out' in a hectic mission over occupied Europe, this Consolidated B-24 Liberator Bomber of the U.S. Army 8th AF proved it could 'take it' as well by safely returning to its base in Britain in spite of the serious damage to the tail structure. Appropriately enough, this craft is named EL LOBO (The Wolf)."
Info Contributor - Joseph F. Beaulieu ( Waist Gunner)
Our crew (576th BS) picked up EL LOBO at Herrington, Kansas, in Aug 43. John S. Walters (Waist Gunner) was the artist. On one mission, it was over run by another ship in the formation and got it's tail turret chopped out 20 Dec 43. Transferred to 579th BS.
