Shown shortly after it force-landed at Ghedi in
Northern Italy 12 Jul 44 with the crew of Pilot Lt. Herschel L. Smith and his
dead ball turret gunner. Two day later, on 14 Jul 44, a formation of P-38s from
the 82nd FG, escorted by others from the 14th FG, dive-bombed the B-24 which was
left burning.
