Shown wearing the neutrality markings which the B-24As wore
until 7 Dec 41. Not used as bombers, the nine-strong B-24A fleet of Ferrying
Command (40-2369 - 40-2377) operated out of Bolling Field, WA, as transports and
VIP limousines.
This particular aircraft was one of two selected for a secret mission to
photograph Japanese island bases while ostensibly on a routine flight to the
Philippines but was destroyed at Hickam AFB, Hawaii, by some of the first bombs
dropped on the morning of 7 Dec 41.
