One of the Ds that was shipped as subassemblies from CO to DT for the latter to assemble. The plane saw only stateside TB service and was surveyed 9 Aug 44. Received from Douglas 28 Nov 42. (The CO serials on either side of 864 were delivered in early June.) The date of its destruction and the nose art are as described in the referenced letter to BRIEFING. The 'needle' props are consistent with this scenario.
