Restoration/Representation - Starboard (Right) Side - Color Image
Contributor - Lt.
Col. Craig Rainey
Owned and operated
by the Collings Foundation. The aircraft was built at the
Consolidated Aircraft Company's Fort Worth, Texas plant in August
1944 and delivered to the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF).
However, in October of 1944 it was transferred to the Royal
Air Force (RAF), which used it for patrol and bombing missions in
the Pacific. It saw considerable action against Japanese
shipping.
Research Team Comments: Allocated RAF serial KH191 (Liberator GR.VIII) and operated in SEAC. Post war was pulled from graveyard and flew with 8 Sqn Indian Air Force until retirement. Purchased by Doug Arnold and flown to USA in 1982. Later bought by David Tallichet and operated as ALL AMERICAN (port side) and GOLDEN GIRL (starboard side). Now owned and flown by Collings Foundation (Bob Collings) as THE DRAGON AND HIS TAIL, 43BG 64BS.
