The nose artwork on ARK ANGEL was painted by Linus J. Box, its original Pilot with the 491st BG. The Box Crew all had similar artwork on their flight jackets, one of which is now on display in a Texas museum. The Box Crew finished their missions but plane was shot down on a mission to Misburg 26 Nov 44 with another crew, all KIA. The ARK ANGEL crash site was discovered several years ago by German Thomas Pohl on his grandfather's farm near the village of Oerie.
