A Consolidated B-24 Liberator taxis into the parking area on
Johnson Island beside The BIG TIME OPERATOR. The
planes of the 494th Bomb Group have completed the first leg of
the journey from barking Sands Airstrip on Kauai, Hawaiian
Islands to an advanced base on Angaur Island in the Caroline

Flown to combat by Harvey Kollman. It is believed that at least the tail insignia returned to the U.S.A. with Dan Otten and Colonel Kelley, after the typhoon "Louise" and other mishaps in October dictated some reconstruction of aircraft, enabling them to fly home.
