Port (Left) Side - Mid-Air Collision (MAC) with ROUGH RIDERS II (42-95159)
Not Lost 27 May 44, GER - MACR 5632 - Pilot Lester C. Martin (755th BS)

Info Contributor - John Holman
Even though the official Army Air Corps reports stated that BRINEY MARLIN was destroyed in a mid air collision (MACR 5632), it was not. The starboard wing tip was bent in and inhibited the use of that aileron. Capt. Lester C. Martin was able to land the plane at the field and the other plane involved (42-95159 P) was cut in half by the wingtip of BRINEY MARLIN, and all the crew aboard "159" were lost. Two of BRINEY MARLIN's crew bailed out, before Lester could recall his bailout command. They were never found. BRINEY MARLIN was repaired and Lester Martin finished his 25 missions.
