Wrongly and consistently listed as 42-40382 (O/84) in the 376th mission
reports, first appearing in early May 43 and usually flown by Jerome P. DuFour.

#84 started flying combat with the 515th BS 6 May 43, and was lost 13
Aug 43 at El Batham Tunisia while making an emergency landing ( nose wheel
collapsed). This aircraft did not fly the Ploesti mission 1
Aug 43, but did fly the 13 Aug 43 Wiener-Neustadt mission. The 9th AF took off from Bengasi on the 13th and landed in Tunisia after bombing
Wiener-Neustadt.
