Port (Left) Side - 1st Nose Art - Starboard has FORM 1-A

Info Contributor - David Burns
Piloted by my Uncle, Robert W. Groves, who flew 47 missions (most of them in The HARRY S. TRUMAN / FORM 1-A), during 1945. After asking my Uncle what the tail numbers were on his "Bird" (even though he had difficulty speaking), with great forcefulness, he uttered "229"!

Info Contributor - James A. Leddy
When the "Jolly Rogers" Liberator "229" broke the world's record for combat missions flown by any Consolidated B-24, it was repainted (with no "controversial" artwork), still honoring President Truman.
