My Grandfather, Norman C. Adams, was the Navigator/Bombardier. He was shot down in the low level raid over Ploesti 1 Aug 43 and spent 18 months in the Timsul de Jus prison camp north of Ploesti. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart, the Soldiers Medal, and the Air Medal.
