My Grandfather, Joseph Ragan (kneeling far left), was the Nose Gunner. The name JOE-GIA WOLF stems from Pilot Joe Moses Athon, (from Georgia), who was a "Wolf"! My Granddad said that before they went over to Europe, Joe was always out (dressed up in zoot suits) chasing girls all night long. Things didn't change much when they got over to Italy. Over there, Joe was still chasing the girls and even managed to take a few nurses up in JOE-GIA WOLF on Sundays.
