JOSÉ CARIOCA
became an instant hit throughout Brazil. Many B-24s staged through Natal, in northeastern Brazil, on their way to North Africa and I believe that is where JOSÉ CARIOCA obtained it's name. Carioca is a person born in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the Parrot depicted on the plane was a Disney character produced when Brazil joined the USA in WWII.
