Aborted Operation TIDAL WAVE, 1 Aug 43, Ploesti Romania

Flew on the wing of Col. Kane on the Ploesti raid 1 Aug 43 but had to return to base because of mechanical problems. Because my Father-In-Law, Kittredge "Kitt" Hamlin (Co-Pilot - standing second from left) left North Africa for the states about 8 Aug 43 (after 45 missions), this photo was taken prior to that date. I assume that Capt. Herbert Arens (Pilot) is standing far left. Kitt passed away 26 Jan 93.
