G. H. KAYLOR

Port (Left) Side - Starboard has The SQUAW - Walt Disney Character - "Snow White Theme"
Survived Operation TIDAL WAVE, 1 Aug 43, Ploesti Romania

Contributor - George H. Kaylor
Shown with my Uncle, Sgt. G. H. Kaylor (Standing far left). His original assignment was on SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS (41-11913), piloted by Gunn. This, I believe, is the Gunn crew. Along with most of his crewmates, they were lost on the 1 Aug 43 Ploesti mission in MARGIE (42-41007), piloted by Clarence Gooden.

Info Contributor - Bill Whitney
The SQUAW art work was retained throughout its combat tour. In the spring of '43 in compliance with a “Snow White Squadron” directive, SLEEPY was painted on the left side. When SLEEPY finished combat and was sent home on a war effort tour, the SLEEPY nose art was removed and replaced with a large map of the MTO combat area. The original art work of The SQUAW was also changed to reflect a more wholesome Squaw for viewing by the people back home.

Along with ARKANSAS TRAVELER, I painted two versions of SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS, PRINCE CHARMING, and all "Seven Dwarfs" (three versions of DOPEY) on B24-Ds in the Libyan desert in Africa 1942-43. I never signed them and never got credit.
