Lost 28 May 44, CHN - MACR 5348 - Pilot Kenneth S. Starcher

Photo taken 21 May 44 at the forward base at Kweilin, China, one week before the
plane crashed, killing all 11 aboard. My uncle, 1Lt Kenneth
S. Starcher, flew this aircraft on a successful sea search mission on 27 May
1944 but was diverted to Lingling when bad weather at Kweilin closed the field.
The next day, the plane crashed about 10 minutes after takeoff on its way back
to Kweilin.
